First came “coexistence,” the idea that organic and biotech farming methods could live side-by-side.  Now comes “convergence.”  Convergence rests on the belief that if we are to feed the 9 billion people who will soon be on the planet, we will need a new form of sustainable agriculture that incorporates the best technology, regardless of its source.

Jan 13 -- Maine Agricultural Trades Show to highlight "Convergence."  On Wednesday, the Maine Ag. Trade Show will feature a half-day program titled "Beyond the Organic-Conventional Rift."  The program features Pamela Ronald and R.W. Adamchak, authors of "Tomorrow's Table"  Also on the program is Dr. Jonathan Foley from the University of Minnesota.  Foley argues for a "third way" the combines organic and industrial agriculture.  His remarks are titled "Setting the Stage: The need for a new green revolution, why and what it could look like for Maine."  The program is sponsored by the Maine Farm Bureau.
